Spotlight on Felicia

feliciapicFelicia Lobo is Pipeline’s literary and community manager and has worked with us as a director for our last two Matchstick Series. She joins the Beardo team as assistant director. Felicia graduated from NYU Tisch in 2014, where she trained at the Atlantic Acting School, Stonestreet Studios, and CAP21. She has a craving for dark, mystical, horror theatre and founded Insomnium Theatre Company, along with Lauren Harris, in pursuit of that. Learn more about Felicia in our interview below, and grab your tickets to Beardo today!

Pipeline Theatre Company: What attracted you to Beardo? What made you want to work on this project?

Felicia Lobo: My high school history teacher told me the story of Rasputin on a day the class seemed particularly bored. Every jaw in the class dropped. I remember looking my teacher in the eye and saying “no way”. Well… “way”.

PTC: Why do you perform the role you perform? Why directing?

FL: Collaboration…and collages. I feel like directing allows you to take many individual’s artistry and collage them into an experience. Being on the directing team with Ellie and Emily feels like an extremely exciting example of that. Also I obsessively made collages as a kid and directing feels like that.

PTC: If you ruled the world, what would you be remembered for?

FL: My enthusiasm, my intimate knowledge of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and my good jacket (if you know me, you know the jacket).

PTC: Why should someone who has no connection to this show or its artists come see the show?

FL: We are all trying to understand how people receive their power. Money, last name, sex, God, violence, kindness? This show is a fascinating exploration of how power changes hands during an immense class divide. Also, the music is killer.

PTC: If you could create a tagline for this show, what would it be?

FL: Beardo, or The Well Endowed.
