In the chaos of revolution, a kitchen maid rescues an abandoned child of royal blood and protects him against all odds. Two years later, order restored, the child’s biological mother returns to reclaim him. Their case is heard by the judge- a drunk and a ruffian with a weakness for lopsided justice. Who will win the child? In this modern morality masterpiece, here brought to life with an original score, we see Brecht examine the perils – and necessity – of human goodness.

“Pipeline Theatre Company’s production of The Caucasian Chalk Circle, under the direction of Anya Saffir, is a tour-de-force fueled by an extraordinary cast.”
– Johnny Cigar,

“Saffir’s ensemble injects an impulsive zest into its array of characters that makes the work all the more flavorful and, yes, flat out funnyThe ensemble, working together in near perfect step, is among the finest you will encounter…For those on the prowl for a hidden gem, this production of The Caucasian Chalk Circle is a promising place to start.”
– Jonathan Yukich, Off Off Online

“From the clothing racks onstage to the direct questioning of the audience to the tongue-in-cheek treatment of station… we never forget the reality of the theatricality or the theatricality of reality.
– O’Hagan Blades, Theater is Easy
