What is Pipeline’s Virtual Amazing Race? And how is THE MAZE different?
THE MAZE is a virtual version of our annual Amazing Race fundraiser. Racers will solve puzzles and play games online in order to navigate The Maze, created by a character called The Guardian. Think of it like a virtual-escape-room that can be played with friends near and far in the comfort of your own home.
When is it? And how long does it take to play?
October 31-November 1. The Maze will open at the stroke of midnight on October 31, and close at midnight on November 2nd.
Is this for fun or am I competing?
Both! Everyone who enters is eligible to win, but you don’t need to be competitive when you play – you can take your time and just enjoy the game!
But I want to compete! How does that work?
Teams will be scored based on their accuracy and the time it takes to complete the main part of the race. The winning team will be announced on Monday 11/2, and will win a collection of fun autumnal prizes!
Ok – what’s the entrance fee?
THE MAZE has a pay-what-you-will entrance fee, with a suggested donation of $30 per person, or $100 per team. If you pay the suggested donation, Pipeline will send you a new Pipeline mug!
How big of a team can I have?
As large or as small as you want! We recommend playing with at least one other person, but you can play by yourself, with those in your household, and/or with friends and family over Zoom. Kids are more than welcome to join (the race is rated PG, and content is generally appropriate for all ages), but we recommend children under 14 play with their parents due to the difficulty of some challenges. But other challenges are just for fun, and anyone can do them!
I live in a tiny apartment. Am I able to do this there?
Yes! All challenges can be completed with the items in your home and a computer/electronic device. We tested it out in a studio apartment, don’t worry!
Will I be able to do this safely during COVID-19?
Yes! The Maze takes all current COVID requirements and guidelines into account. You’ll never need to leave your home or interact with someone, if you don’t want to!
I live alone, can I participate?
Yes! You’re also welcome to work with friends and family over the internet, but you can definitely complete the Race by yourself.
All of this sounds great, how do I sign up?
All you need to do is put your team together, choose a name, and choose a team captain. Your team captain will then GO TO THIS FORM, and sign you up!
Can we add more people after we sign up?
Yes – once you sign up, you’ll get an email with more information from our Game Masters, including how to add players to your team.

Pipeline’s AMAZING RACE: The Maze continues virtually, with a new autumnal twist! In this edition, Racers will solve puzzles, play games, and complete challenges to find their way through a maze – without ever leaving their homes! The Race can be played in teams of 2 or more people, and Racers don’t need to be in the same physical location as their teammates to play together.

Duration: Approximately 1.5 – 2.5 hours to complete.
