PIPELINE’S AMAZING RACE, EXPLAINED
We’re here to answer your questions about joining Pipeline’s Amazing Race
What is Pipeline’s Amazing Race?
Pipeline’s Amazing Race comprises of a number of challenges over the course of one day in New York City on Sunday, September 22. The first challenge will be revealed on the day of the event, and you’ll get the next challenge when you successfully complete the first. Think scavenger hunt, but with a Pipeline twist. Race day will culminate in a sweet, sweet celebration of your achievements at our Race Day Party.
It’s also the perfect opportunity to make some new Pipeline friends, have more fun than you ever thought possible on a Sunday, and hone your puzzle and trivia skills!
What’s the difference between the Competitive and Recreational Race?
Competitive teams will compete to win two tickets to the Broadway show of their choice, and must complete all of the challenges to be eligible.
Choose the Competitive Race if you really like to win and you totally already know how you’re going to. You’re already envisioning the glory and the prizes. You’ve started strategizing the best candidate to be your winning teammate. Or maybe you just really want to see Moulin Rouge on Broadway and this sounds like a fun way to win tickets.
Recreational teams play the route for fun, with unlimited hints and optional shortcuts, and all recreational teams get a participation prize.
Choose the Recreational Race if you love to play games and have always wondered if you’d be good at a scavenger hunt. But like, you’re chill about it and don’t want to be rushed. You’ve got a group of friends in mind and this sounds super fun. Or you’ve seen everything on Broadway and don’t wanna be stressed out on a Sunday.
And there’s a party too?
Yes! We’re turning Donnybrook into our very own mischief filled celebration to join together the Pipeline Community. We’re kicking off with a complimentary cocktail for all attendees – think Mimosas, Bloody Marys, or a Cheeky Coffee – followed by some tasty breakfast bites on us. Get ready for this celebration of our Amazing Race where you can take a rest from your screens and enjoy some games IRL.
What time is the race?
We’ll kick it off in the at 9:30 AM at Donnybrook and the race can be completed in about 3 hours, with trophies and awards given out at 1:30 PM. You’ll be done by the afternoon and still have your Sunday evening to yourself!
What is the purpose of Pipeline’s Amazing Race?
Pipeline’s Amazing Race is a chance for us to raise money for the ambitious programming you see on our stages, the fearless artists who collaborate with us, and the people behind the scenes who make it happen.
While our competitive teams will challenge themselves to be crowned the winners, it’s also an opportunity for any Pipeline supporter at any level of fitness or ability to participate, have fun, and discover new parts of the city. It can add excitement to your weekend while also bringing your favorite theatre company’s community closer together. It’s a win-win situation! Pick your race, pick your team, and join us in downtown Manhattan on Sunday, Sept 22nd!
How was the race created?
Pipeline’s Amazing Race is a celebration of creativity in the dynamic surroundings of downtown Manhattan, with eclectic activities, games none of us can stop talking about, and unforgettable experiences in hard-to-find places. Behind all of this tomfoolery is our Race Creation team.
Made up of Game Masters, their job is to make sure the experience of running the race is FUN. Fun means a lot of different things to different people, so we have planned a sampler plate of challenges and puzzles to suit everyone’s tastes. Each of the Game Masters has extensively explored the area to scout locations, stores, art, and landmarks that you probably haven’t noticed before but you’ll definitely want to explore more deeply.
