POSITION: Marketing Associate
ORGANIZATION: Pipeline Theatre Company (New York, NY)
CATEGORY: Administration
JOB TYPE/SALARY: $15/hr, 5-15 hours/week (Part-Time)
DURATION / END DATE: Hiring in August, beginning in September 2022

Pipeline Theatre Company is hiring a part-time Marketing Associate to join our small staff. We’re looking for someone with a unique voice, who loves supporting artists as they explore bold and ambitious new ideas, and who is eager to bring their own wild ideas to the table. As with every position at Pipeline, there is room to grow as the company grows. We’re excited by the idea of collaborating with someone (could be an artist/creative/entrepreneur /student /not-for-profit enthusiast /professional tennis player with a not-so-secret passion for theatre marketing, etc.) who is looking for a part-time role that will support their lifestyle outside of Pipeline. We’re open to unique circumstances, we work remotely, and we’re a company built on big dreams. Above all, we hope to find someone as excited as we are to share and communicate Pipeline’s mission of supporting relevant, compassionate, imaginative, and world building theatre to the New York community!
Now in its 14th season, Pipeline believes that an unbridled imagination is a force of magic with the power to provoke a more courageous and compassionate world. Founded in 2009, Pipeline is a small-but-mighty and quickly growing not-for-profit theatre company that serves bold, emerging artists whose work seems impossible. We seek out shows that scare us and beg the question, “How are we going to produce this?” We thrive when presented with an impossible challenge, and shows that might be considered too big or risky are the exact shows we are committed to producing. Pipeline’s production of BEARDO (2017) by Jason Craig and Dave Malloy was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music; PLAYING HOT (2019), created by Jaki Bradley and Kevin Armento, was nominated for an Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Unique Theatrical Experience; and our most recent production of BRUISE & THORN (2022) by C. Julian Jiménez received a NY Times Critic’s Pick.

This person should be/have:
  •  Playful, exploratory, silly, fun!
  • A unique voice and vision for how to communicate
  • Used to working remotely and balancing various projects (everyone at Pipeline also works elsewhere! We encourage artists to apply.)
  • Comfy exploring and using all social media outlets
  • Experience with or a willingness to learn MailChimp
  • Experience with or a willingness to learn Canva and/or other graphics programs
  • Compassionate, courageous, and collaborative
  • Down to clown
Marketing responsibilities include:
  •  Manage and create content for website, social media, and eblast communication
  • Integrate website upkeep with annual season programming (i.e. creating event specific webpages, ongoing updates to artist pages, etc.)
  • Develop social media strategy and run social media channels
  • Write, design, and schedule e-mail blasts using MailChimp
  • Work with staff across departments to develop communication and marketing strategies for productions, events, company news/updates, fundraising, etc.

  • Catalog company photos for archival purposes
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
