Spotlight on Shaye Troha

063webonlyShaye Troha will make her Pipeline debut this February as “Shack Woman” and “Lady of the Court” in Beardo. She previously appeared in Jason and Dave’s Beowulf – A Thousand Years of Baggage, which toured New York as well as Edinburgh, Scotland, and Adelaide, Australia. Shaye also recently appeared in Orpheus and Eurydice Are Fucking in Love at Ars Nova’s ANT Fest. Learn more about Shaye in our interview below, and catch her live in Beardo this February. Pipeline Theatre Company: What attracted you to Beardo? What made you want to work on this project?

Shaye Troha: My inspiring friends, Jason Craig and Dave Malloy, and the weird and wonderful worlds their words and music create onstage.

PTC: Who is your character and where do you see yourself in your character?

ST: My characters are Shack Woman and Lady of the Court. Shack Woman and I share female strength and belief in a higher power.

PTC: If you ruled the world, what would you be remembered for?

ST: I’d hope to be remembered for bringing people together from different cultures and helping them find commonality to create a future of understanding, compromise and peace.

PTC: Tell me two truths and a lie.

ST: I saw Fidel Castro speak in Cuba three months after 9/11. My parents are international gymnastic coaches. I have a pet chinchilla named Harry.

PTC: If you could create a tagline for this show, what would it be?

ST: Beardo. He flips everyone’s switch.
