Pipeline Theatre Company: What attracted you to Beardo? What made you want to work on this project?
Liz Leimkuhler: It’s hard not to be attracted to a rock musical based on the story of Rasputin! There’s an alluring darkness to Russian history and literature, and I had a feeling that Beardo would encapsulate that darkness.
PTC: Where do you see yourself in your character?
LL: My character is Shack Sister, a woman whose life has been defined by silence and restraint. I identify with the feeling of being under someone or something’s control and desperate to break free, as I’m sure we all do.
PTC: If you ruled the world, what would you be remembered for?
LL: If I ruled the world, I would require all of my subjects to adopt at least one pet in order to clear the shelters and streets of stray animals!
PTC: Tell me two truths and a lie.
LL: I have an insect collection, I have two cats, I am allergic to persimmons.
PTC: If you could create a tagline for this show, what would it be?
LL: Madness!!!….Sensuality!!….BEARDS!!!!!
