Sarah Bloomenthal’s father abandoned her family when she was just a child. Her mother won’t tell her why, her brother won’t tell her why, but Sarah suspects it may have something to do with the fact that she was born with hands resembling the “chamsah” talisman (hands with a thumb on each outer edge and no pinkies). As she tries to unravel the truth behind her father’s departure, she is faced with Jewish mysticism, the masterful shadow puppets her father used to make, and her own insecurities about what precisely it is that makes a family.
The Mystery of F*cking
